4/13/09: Hiking in the Redwood Forest

On Friday I did the big run up in the Marin Headlands. After some good scotch and wine Friday night in Palo Alto, we headed back up to the Easy Bay for some hiking on Saturday.

The four of us met up with two others in the Redwood Forest for a 5 or 6 mile hike. It was a beautiful forest and a really fun hike. There were great views towards the east of Diablo State Park and a lot of cool trails.

I felt great on the hike and ended up doing an easyish 5 or 6 mile run later in the day up through the Berkeley campus. I was pretty happy to feel so good the day after a 40 mile run and had another awesome day in this beautiful area.

I didn't take too many pictures this time, but here's what I got.

(About to hike uphill. You can just see the trail towards the right)

(That's Jen way to the right hiking uphill)

On Sunday and Monday we did a lot of great hiking in Yosemite. I'll try to get these pics up soon, but it may take a while since there are a TON of pictures.

Nice "east view" in the upper photo.

Most of my time is in the parks far to the north, like Jedediah Smith. Maybe you have ran Howland Hill Road before. Probably best to run in late autumn or very early spring when rain has washed dust down and less cars are in there. It's tranquil in the off-season.

Boy Scout Tree trail near there is a good hike or a run.
